Conditions & Services | Patient Success Stories

Our bariatric surgery services offers hope for the severely obese (those who are 100 or more pounds overweight or twice their ideal body weight). These patients are at high-risk for developing the following life-threatening conditions including:

  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Orthopedic Conditions
  • Sleep Apnea

Our bariatric surgery services team offers individuals in Orange County and surrounding communities the latest laparoscopic surgical options, including the Roux-en-Y (gastric bypass) and LAP-BANDŽ procedures.

Services

Roux-en-Y (Gastric Bypass)

This procedure simultaneously seals off most of the stomach to decrease food intake and realigns the small intestine to reduce the calories the body can absorb.

Laparoscopic Gastric Banding (LAP-BAND®)

LAP-BAND® is an operation in which an adjustable band is placed around the upper section of the stomach to limit its capacity and to slow the emptying process from the stomach to the intestines. The band is tightened or loosened by inflating it with a saline solution through tubing connected to a reservoir implanted under the skin.

Preoperative and Postoperative Support Services

Our team is committed to helping educate individuals considering bariatric surgery and providing support to patients who have undergone the procedure. We offer the following ongoing preoperative and postoperative services:

  • Nutrition Services
Good eating habits is essential for maximizing long-term success after weight loss surgery. Our team has a full time registered dietician who provides preoperative and postoperative nutrition assessments and consultations.
  • Preoperative and Postoperative Support Meetings
Bariatric surgery services offers support meetings for patients considering bariatric surgery and postoperative patients. Family and support people are welcome to attend. At postoperative support meetings, guest speakers are invited to speak on various topics about nutrition, exercise and postsurgery care. The preoperative support meetings provide peer support, allow individuals to learn about the surgery firsthand from others who have had bariatric surgery and allow postoperative patients to share their experiences.
