Dr. Bota, a fellowship-trained neurological oncologist, is the medical director of UC Irvine’s Comprehensive Brain Tumor Program. She specializes in the treatment of primary and metastatic brain tumors. Her clinical interests include developing new treatments for high-grade and low-grade gliomas, as well as the treatment of cancer-induced cognitive deficits. Bota is the principal investigator for a number of brain and spinal cord tumor clinical trials that are currently enrolling patients at UC Irvine Medical Center.
Dr. Sender is the medical director of clinical oncology services for UC Irvine’s Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Orange County. He is board-certified both in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. Dr. Fruehauf is a medical oncologist who specializes in brain metastasis and melanoma. His clinical interests include the mechanisms of drug resistance in primary brain tumors. He has served as a member of the Southwest Oncology Group brain cancer committee. Learn more about Dr. Fruehauf. »
As the nurse practitioner for the brain tumor program, Fu is responsible for providing neurological and general examinations and assessments for brain tumor patients. In addition, she supervises the administration of chemotherapy, prescribes appropriate therapeutic and diagnostic interventions and is involved with patient and family education. Dr. Linskey, surgical neuro-oncologist, is co-director of UC Irvine’s Comprehensive Brain Tumor Program. He has advanced subspecialty training and expertise in advanced cranial microsurgery, image-guided surgery including intra-operative MR tumor resection, skull base endoscopic and microsurgical resections, stereotaxis, brachytherapy and PerFexion Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery for both adult and pediatric brain tumor patients. Dr. Paré is a neurosurgeon who specializes in microsurgical techniques to remove brain, spine and spinal-cord tumors. She has advanced subspecialty training and expertise in cranial microsurgery, image-guided surgery including intra-operative MR tumor resection, minimally invasive approaches to spine tumors, spine stabilization after tumor resection and spinal stereotactic radiosurgery. Dr. Ramsinghani is board-certified in therapeutic radiology. Her clinical interests include brain tumors, conformal radiation, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) pediatric malignancies as well as head and neck tumors. Dr. Kuo is a board-certified radiation oncologist. He provides consultation and treatment for patients with malignancies, including brain tumors. Kuo specializes in radiation approaches including IMRT, 3-D conformal radiation, spine stereotactic radiosurgery and PerFexion Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. Neuropathology
Dr. Kim is an experienced subspecialty neuropathologist whose primary interest is in brain tumor neuropathology. He has served on the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology’s (AFIP) neuropathology training course faculty for more than 15 years. Neuroradiology
Dr. Hasso is a neuroradiologist whose expertise includes developing new MRI applications for the evaluation and follow-up of abnormal brain cell growths. He has significant experience in the imaging diagnosis and evaluation of brain, spine and spinal cord tumors.
Dr. Tsai is both a diagnostic neuroradiologist and a neuro-interventional radiologist with many years of clinical experience. Neuropsychology
Dr. Oak is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in neuropsychology and rehabilitation. She conducts pre- and post-operative neuropsychological evaluations for patients in the brain tumor program to evaluate changes in memory and cognition, emotion and/or behavior as a result of their brain tumor or treatment. Kirkley is responsible for facilitating communication between various specialists and referring physicians regarding patient diagnosis and treatment. She organizes appointments and ensures all patient records and test results are obtained. She also helps patients navigate through the program, providing support and education.
As nurse coordinator for the Brain Tumor Program, Przeklasa works closely with the program's multidisciplinary team, ensuring that every patient's need is met. She has a background in case management, enabling her to provide the highest level of assistance to patients and their families, including identifying community resources, scheduling appointments, ensuring that medical records are available for each appointment and coordinating services to overcome access to care barriers. Social Worker
A licensed clinical social worker, Baker provides patients with complete psychosocial assessments. She is also provides emotional support, information and assistance with resources to patient and their family members. In addition, she facilitates the program’s monthly brain tumor support group held at UC Irvine Medical Center for all brain tumor patients and their families. |
