Central Location

People diagnosed with cancer typically need a variety of medical specialists, treatments and services.  All these are available at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, an integral part of UC Irvine Medical Center.  Ancillary services such as support groups, dietary guidance and pain management are also available.

Hematologic Malignancies Program

Malignant blood diseases such as acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other bone marrow disorders often involve a complex treatment plan.  At UC Irvine Medical Center, a team of highly experienced hematologists, surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, nurses, dietitians, pathologists and radiologists work together to provide each patient with the best possible care.

The Hematology/Oncology physicians are affiliated with UCLA Medical Center for bone marrow transplantation procedures. We provide pre- and post-transplant services at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center to minimize travel for bone marrow transplantation patients from Orange County.

Non-Malignant Hematology

Physicians at UC Irvine Medical Center provide full consultative and treatment services for patients with non-malignant (non-cancerous) disorders of the blood.  We are the most comprehensive resource of this type in Orange County.  Among the many disorders treated are:

  • Anemias
  • Platelet disorders
  • Disorders of the blood clotting systems
  • White blood cell disorders
  • Disorders of iron metabolism
