Offering virtually every diagnostic and treatment modality available today, the program brings together a team of outstanding professionals to wage an integrated campaign against heart disease. As a university-based hospital, UC Irvine Medical Center strives to provide each patient with world-class heart care. In addition to treating patients with chronic heart conditions, we serve as a referral center for complex and difficult-to-treat cardiac cases.

Cardiac receiving center

We were among the first hospitals in the area to be designated by Orange County Emergency Medical Services as a cardiac receiving center. This means we are staffed and equipped to care for the most critical cases without delay. In this environment, excellence is the standard, benefiting patients and families significantly.

Advanced methods

UC Irvine Medical Center is equipped with a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, ranging from 3-D echocardiography to 64-slice CT technology for noninvasive angiograms. Our board-certified cardiologists and cardiac surgeons are experts in the most advanced methods available to treat heart disease. Many have pioneered techniques that are contributing to today’s outstanding outcomes for heart patients, helping people live longer, more active lives.

Convenience and scope

Our outpatient cardiology services are available daily for patients with conditions such as:

• Cardiomyopathy and heart failure
• Coronary disease
• Arrhythmias
• Valvular heart disease
• Hypertension

Additionally, patients requiring surgical clearance, as well as the evaluation of murmurs, chest pain and/or abnormal ECG findings, are expertly evaluated in this outpatient setting. Our cardiology team is also skilled in identifying noncardiac conditions with apparent cardiac manifestations.
