Chronic Sinusitis
Dr. Naveen Bhandarkar, UC Irvine otolaryngologist
Tuesday, April 24, 1 p.m.
Norman P. Murray Senior Center
24932 Veterans Way
Mission Viejo

Sinusitis is a swelling of the sinuses, the small, air-filled cavities between the bones in the face where air passes and where mucus drains into the nose.  For older adults, sinusitis may be particularly annoying and worrisome because the symptoms – difficulty breathing through the nose, coughing, sneezing, pressure in the sinus area, headaches and repeated sinus infections – may interfere with the activities they enjoy or prevent them from doing the things that help keep them healthy. For others, chronic sinusitis may lead to repeated sinus infections and other sinus and nasal problems.

In his talk, Dr. Naveen Bhandarkar will focus on the issues related to chronic sinusitis that are of particular interest to older adults. Participants will learn about the causes of sinusitis, the long-term effects of chronic sinusitis and the current medical and surgical treatments for this condition.
