2,000 Seniors Expected for
Fifth Annual Senior Health Care Event
Orange, Calif., May 4, 2004 – UCI Medical Center’s fifth annual “Taking Charge of Your Health Care” conference will be held Tuesday, May 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. Nearly 2,000 seniors are expected for what has become Orange County’s largest health-care conference for seniors.
Attendees will hear from top faculty physicians on the topics of women’s and men’s health, digestive disorders, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and depression (agenda below). The UCI conference is a resource for seniors who want to learn about the latest medical treatments and research available.
According to an Orange County Office on Aging report, the number of people in Orange County over the age of 60 is expected to double by 2020 to 695,000. UCI Medical Center, with its team of 10 geriatricians, is dedicated to meeting the growing health needs of this population.
Staying healthy in mind and body helps seniors reach their maximum potential. Our annual health-care conference gives seniors the information they need to stay strong, active and independent.
In addition to doctors who specialize in senior care, the UCI SeniorHealth Center team includes nurses, a social worker, a neuropsychologist, a pharmacist, a physician assistant and a nurse practitioner. All team members have special training in the care of older adults.
The event will feature glucose, blood pressure and other health screenings, plus giveaways and door prizes. Breakfast and lunch are also provided at no charge. Major sponsors include UCI Medical Center, the Crystal Cathedral and Silverado Senior Living. The event is free, but reservations are required.
The Crystal Cathedral is located at 12141 Lewis St., Garden Grove. For reservations or information call toll free 1-877-UCI-DOCS (824-3627) or visit
