UC Irvine Medical Center provides the only combined tertiary level perinatal and neonatal program in Orange County to manage high-risk pregnancy or the at-risk fetus. Our neonatal intensive care unit provides care for infants born at UC Irvine Medical Center or neighboring communities requiring a higher level of care.

These infants are treated by a multidisciplinary neonatology team that includes highly trained physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, occupational therapists and medical social workers.

Neonatalogy Services provide coordinated multi-specialty care for high-risk newborns, including:

• Extremely premature newborns weighing approximately 16 ounces or less at birth

• Infants with complex congenital heart disease and infants with serious congenital malformations.
