UC Irvine Medical Center patients may have their parking validated at their doctor’s office or other patient care area so that exiting the Patient/Visitor Parking Structure (located on Dawn Way) is free. The parking rate in the Patient/Visitor Structure is $1.00 per half-hour up to a maximum of $10.00 per day. Visitors of patients may receive validation for up to two hours of free parking. There are more than 100 locations where you can obtain visitor stamps at UC Irvine Medical Center. Ask a UC Irvine staff member where you can obtain a validation in the area you’re visiting.

UC Irvine Medical Center patients can either park in one of the spots designated for Emergency Department visits or use valet parking, which is free for all ER patients. Visitors of ER patients may use valet services or park in the patient/visitor structure, located on Dawn Way. Visitors may receive validation for up to two hours of free parking.

UC Irvine Healthcare provides a guest shuttle to transport patients and visitors throughout UC Irvine Medical Center. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and makes routine stops at the visitor parking structure, the cancer center, the west entrance to UC Irvine Douglas Hospital near Chapman Avenue, Pavilion Way, the east entrance to Building 3 (Neuropsychiatry) on Tower Road and outside the Emergency Department on Tower Road.

UC Irvine Medical Center offers convenient valet parking for our patients and visitors Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Valet parking is provided at three locations:

• For Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, ambulatory and Emergency Department, valet is located north of Building 22C (Diagnostic Services Center).
• For Infusion Center patients and patients being discharged from the hospital, valet will be located at the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital west entrance.
• For hospital patient admissions and visitors, valet is located at the main entrance.

Valet service is $5, or $2 with any UC Irvine Healthcare patient validation. Emergency Department patients and visitors with disabled placards receive valet service free of charge. Keys for vehicles remaining after 9 p.m. can be retrieved at the information booth on the first island on Medical Center Drive.

In the event you are admitted into the hospital for one night or more, you should park in the Patient/Visitor Structure, if possible. As a patient, you will not be charged the daily rate to park there with a validation. If it was necessary for you to park elsewhere, we suggest you contact a friend or family member to move your car for you. If it’s not possible to have someone move your car for you, please notify the Parking and Transportation Services Office at 714.456.5636.

Parking stalls for those who have a valid disabled parking placard issued by the State of California are located throughout the grounds. Also, you may park in the Patient/Visitor Structure and exit without charge when you show the attendant your valid disabled placard. You must have a valid placard displayed in order to park in any disabled parking stall.

Persons with any special parking needs such as motor home parking, etc should contact the Parking and Transportation Services Office at 714.456.5636. We will make every effort to assist you.

Visitors of patients who are in the hospital for a week or longer may prefer to purchase a weekly pass for the Patient/Visitor Structure at $10.00 per week. You can purchases these passes in the Parking Office or the Parking Kiosk located in the Visitor Parking Structure. This pass will allow for unlimited entries and exits daily in the Structure.

If you receive a parking citation while parked at our facility, please call or stop by the Parking and Transportation Services Office. Parking citations must be appealed within 21 days of issuance. Vehicles cited on UC Irvine Medical Center property are in violation of University of California Irvine Healthcare Parking Regulations or other sections of the California Vehicle Code as described.

Failure to pay or contest a parking violation within 21 days of issuance will cause notification to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV will block future registration until the citation has been cleared. Any vehicle with five or more outstanding violation notices may be impounded by immobilization devices and/or towed (CVC 21113a and CVC 22651). Any vehicle impounded will be held until all fines, registration and/or impoundment fess are paid.

Citations will be processed immediately and the indicated bail is required, except when issued as a Courtesy Notice.

UC Irvine Healthcare Dismissal Policy Beginning Monday April 28, 2003, the following policies and process will take effect

Note: No other type of violation will be dismissed outright. Permit holders will always be given their right to appeal a citation issued by UC Irvine Healthcare Parking Services. Extenuating circumstances will always be considered during the appeals process.

Non-Permit Holders: For patients and visitors, "no permit" violations shall be dismissed after verification of medical visit/appointment. All other types of citations will be considered during the appeals process. Extenuating circumstances will always be considered during the appeals process

Visitors: First "No-permit" violation in a 12 month period, the customer will be given the option to purchase a daily permit in lieu of the citation. All other citations will be considered during the appeals process. Extenuating circumstances will always be considered during the appeals process.

A courtesy notice is issued because a customer did not have the funds to pay the parking fee when exiting the South Parking Structure. If you received a courtesy notice, the notice allows you to pay the parking fee by mail using the accompanying envelope. The registered owner, lessee or renter is required to deposit the violation amount set forth in the citation notice within 21 days. Payments received after 21 days will be assessed a delinquent penalty double the amount of the citation. If the citation is forwarded to the DMV for a hold on the vehicle's registration an additional $20.00 fee will apply.
