Important Construction Updates

Driveways and parking spaces leading to UC Irvine Douglas Hospital’s main entrance are now open. While minor construction and landscaping projects will continue for a few more weeks, they should not impact the major entrances to UC Irvine Medical Center.

As construction continues at UC Irvine Medical Center, please keep several things in mind:

Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Beginning Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, the main entrance to Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center will be closed for construction of the new portico and lobby expansion. During construction, cancer center patients should use the existing northeast entry door.

Patient and visitor parking. The parking spaces in front of Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Emergency Department are now open. Patients and visitors can also park in the parking structure on Dawn Way off The City Drive.

Valet services. Valet parking for patients and visitors is available Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. at three permanent locations:

  • For Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, ambulatory and the Emergency Department, valet is located north of Building 22C (Diagnostic Services Center).
  • For Infusion Center patients and patients being discharged from the hospital, valet will be located at the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital west entrance.
  • For hospital patient admissions and visitors, valet is located at the main entrance.

Courtesy shuttle. UC Irvine Healthcare provides a guest shuttle to transport patients and visitors throughout UC Irvine Medical Center. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and makes routine stops at the visitor parking structure, the cancer center, the west entrance to UC Irvine Douglas Hospital near Chapman Avenue, Pavilion Way, the east entrance to Building 3 (Neuropsychiatry) on Tower Road and outside the Emergency Department on Tower Road.

Bus stop. The OCTA bus stop is located on Pavilion Way.

Information booth. The information booth is located on the first island on Medical Center Drive.
