UC Irvine’s world-class team of geriatricians is committed to promoting wellness and preventive care for seniors by addressing, assessing and treating the conditions and changes associated with age.
Geriatricians are physicians with additional training to care for the medical, social and psychological issues that concern older adults. They help patients manage common disorders, including hypertension, diabetes and arthritis and are trained in treating specialized problems such as stroke and memory loss. In addition, they understand how physical health problems affect other aspects of seniors’ lives – their mobility, social interaction and ability to live independently.
