UC Irvine Healthcare’s Health Assessment Program for Seniors (HAPS) is designed to assist:

Older persons experiencing:

  • Physical or mental decline
  • Memory problems
  • Falls, dizziness or balance disorders
  • Incontinence
  • Confusion over multiple medications
  • Concerns about living arrangements and independence

Family members who:

  • Are concerned about their loved one’s ability to live independently
  • Are stressed or overwhelmed as caregivers
  • Want a second opinion about their loved one’s diagnosis

The assessment includes a physical exam, psychological and social profile and an evaluation of a patient’s living situation. After the assessment is completed, a geriatrician and neuropsychologist present a comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation to the patient and their family. The also make recommendations concerning medications, occupational therapy, living situation and diet.
