UC Irvine’s SeniorHealth Center team includes geriatricians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, geropsychiatrists, neuropsychologists and nurses – all with special training in the care of older patients.
Dr. Mosqueda is a board-certified family physician and geriatrician. She is the director of geriatrics for UC Irvine Healthcare. Her clinical interests include geriatric medicine, persons with disabilities, memory loss, dementia and preserving the quality of life for older patients. One of her major areas of interest is in elder mistreatment. At a local level, Dr. Mosqueda founded a medical response team that provides consultation on abuse cases, an elder abuse forensic center and the Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition. On a national level, she co-chaired the Department of Justice’s forensic forum on elder abuse and served on a National Academies Panel that published Elder Mistreatment: Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation in an Aging America. Dr. Gibbs specializes in the care of older adults. Board-certified in family and geriatric medicine, she is an expert in dealing with the overlapping medical problems and chronic illnesses that often affect seniors. As a physician at UC Irvine Healthcare’s SeniorHealth Center, Dr. Gibbs works with an interdisciplinary team to improve and maintain the health, quality of life and functional ability of her patients.
Dr. Le is a geriatrician for UC Irvine Healthcare. His specialties include internal and geriatric medicine. He is an expert in dealing with the changing health needs for seniors and enjoys providing care for the aging population.
Dr. Seghal is a board-certified geriatrician who specializes in internal and geriatric medicine. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, healthy aging, women’s health, hypertension, osteoporosis and elder abuse.
A board-certified rheumatologist, Dr. Desai specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, fibromyalgia, scleroderma, and lupus. Her clinical interests include inflammatory joint disease and connective tissue disorders.
Dr. Oak, a clinical neuropsychologist, provides neuropsychological assessments and psychotherapy services for patients who are part of the SeniorHealth Center. Her clinical specialties include neuropsychology and rehabilitation.
Dr. Olsen is a licensed clinical psychologist and works with patients at the SeniorHealth Center. She participates in the Health Assessment Program for Seniors (HAPS) by conducting cognitive and mental health assessments. In addition, Dr. Olsen has extensive experience in the evaluation of cognitive disorders and in assisting those who provide care for individuals with cognitive or emotional disability.
Dr. Williams is a clinical pharmacist for the Senior HealthCenter. His responsibilities include monitoring drug therapy and medication therapy management in older adults. Dr. Williams' clinical interests include evaluation of drug therapy in older adults and in adults aging with a disability.
Dr. Gurvich provides pharmacology consultations to patients at the SeniorHealth Center. During a consultation, she meets with patients to get an accurate history of prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins and food supplements. Dr. Gurvich makes sure all medications are necessary and safe. In addition, she ensures that dosages are correct and appropriate for older patients. She also evaluates adverse drug reactions and interactions. Recommendations from her consultation are provided to the patient’s physician for consideration and implementation.
Valerie George is the physician’s assistant for the SeniorHealth Center. She is responsible for evaluating patients and diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications and recommending medical equipment for SeniorHealth Center patients. Pamela S. Berkson Pamela Berkson, nurse practioner, is responsible for seeing patients who are home bound or living at SeniorHealth Center affiliated nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities and dementia units around Orange County. She specializes in managing medical and psychosocial issues for patients in the home setting.
As nurse manager for the SeniorHealth Center, Thuy Pham is responsible for the management, planning, and supervision of the clinic staff and daily operation. Thuy studied nursing at Golden West College, received her bachelor's degree in nursing science at California State University, Fullerton and her master's degree in nursing science specializing as a family nurse practitioner at California State University, Long Beach. Thuy speaks fluent Vietnamese.
Geraldine Date is part of UC Irvine SeniorHealth Center’s interdisciplinary team. As a clinical social worker, she provides patients and their families with psychosocial help and education for long term care issues. Geraldine also provides psychotherapy and supportive counseling to patients and coordinates the Health Assessment Program for Seniors (HAPS) consultation clinic. |
