UC Irvine Medical Center hematologist/oncologist Sai-Hong Ignatius Ou, M.D., Ph.D., is pursuing the development of more effective therapies for a range of cancers, including several that are relatively rare. His areas of interest include new treatments for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, head and neck cancers, thoracic malignancies and esophageal carcinoma.
For each of these cancers, Dr. Ou has either authored a protocol for a new clinical trial, or located a promising study at another institution and organized a local trial at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. These studies benefit patients at our center by giving them access to new therapies long before they are available to the general public. Currently, Dr. Ou is the principal investigator on multiple clinical trials investigating novel combinations of anticancer drugs which have been developed to improve patient outcomes.
