Acute Care Surgery Services Overview
Each year, UC Irvine Healthcare surgeons treat thousands of adult and pediatric patients with critical injuries and acute illnesses. Our acute care staff is experienced in providing immediate intervention for patients with life-threatening traumas, burns and other problems requiring surgical critical care and emergency general surgery services. Physicians are available around the clock so emergency patients can be examined and treated immediately. UC Irvine Medical Center houses Orange County’s only Level I Trauma Center and Southern California’s first certified Primary Stroke Center for emergency stroke care. The UC Irvine Regional Burn Center, one of the first in the nation, treats burn injuries of all kinds. As a university medical center, UC Irvine is involved in advancing the field of acute care medicine, including clinical research studies to improve treatment of life-threatening situations including shock. Patients at UC Irvine Medical Center can benefit from new technologies and protocols not yet available to the general public. |
