Team & Expertise

Providing optimal care to the trauma victims of Orange County requires both the broad spectrum of specialists available at UC Irvine, as well as the resources of a tertiary university hospital. The core group that directs this care is the trauma surgery team. UC Irvine’s trauma surgeons are board-certified in surgery with added qualification in surgical critical care. The center brings together specialists in emergency medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, anesthesiology, radiology and head and neck surgery to design the most effective and comprehensive treatment for each patient. Other critical members of the trauma team include emergency, critical care and surgical nurses, trauma technologists, case managers, clinical social workers, respiratory therapists, physical/occupational/speech therapists and other medical professionals.
